About this practice set
This set practises the listening skills that TOPIK I learners build at levels 1 and 2: answering a simple yes/no or question-word question, choosing the reply that comes next, recognising where a conversation happens, naming its topic, checking details and finding a speaker's main idea. One phone call is used for two questions in a row, so you also practise holding on to details while you answer.
It is written for beginners who can read Hangul and know basic polite speech and who want to get used to hearing Korean at a natural pace. After you submit, every question shows the full Korean script, an English translation and an explanation of which words lead to the answer and why the most tempting wrong option fails. Until reviewed recordings are added, the clips are read by your browser's Korean speech voice.
This is a 20 question practice set, not an official full-length mock exam. The question types and their order are practice choices made for learning and are not a description of the official TOPIK I structure; check the official TOPIK portal for current exam information.
What you will practise
- Answer yes/no and question-word questions by listening for the key word, such as 어디 (where) or 얼마 (how much).
- Choose a natural reply to suggestions, thanks and everyday questions.
- Identify the place and the topic of a short conversation from its key nouns and verbs.
- Separate a speaker's main idea from supporting details and examples.
- Answer two questions from one short phone call.
Format and rules
- Listening: 20 questions
- Learning mode: no timer, unlimited audio replays. You can leave and continue later on this device.
- Timed mode: 25 minutes. Each listening clip can be played 2 times. The timer keeps running if you close the page or lose your connection, and answers sent after the time is up are not accepted.
- Scoring: Practice scoring: 1 point per correct answer, no negative marking. The percentage is correct answers divided by 20. This is practice scoring only and does not predict an official result.
- Restarting: you can start a new attempt at any time. Each attempt keeps its own result.
- Audio: you will check your sound before the set starts. Headphones are recommended.
